Sean McCormick

Well lets see..... where in the world do I begin with this guy.....First of all, let me introduce you to Sean M McCormick. Sean is my first cousin but I would say he is more like my best friend. I don't remember to much before kindergarden so that is where I am going to begin. Grab yourself a chair cause I'm telling you..... I have a lot to share with you about this guy.

It all started when dad had to have his first heart surgery. Mom was going to be traveling back and forth and since I was so little back then- I needed someone to stay with. This was not a weekend surgery by no means, this was going to take 2 weeks for surgery and time to heal up enough to come home. As a little kid I didn't understand much about what was going on but I knew dad was sick and I was to stay with Sean until he returned. This was during elementary school too- so we went to school and then back to his house to play. Back then us kids didn't have all these high tech video games- we just played outside... whether it was hide and seek, riding bicycles or playing in the dirt. That was good fun. Shoot I can even remember us daring each other to try tasting dog food... dry dog food that is, not the mushy food in a can... yuck... What I remember the most was the house where Sean lived at the time- had a big magnolia tree with the limbs all the way to the bottom. We use to climb that tree all the time to see if we could get to the top. I think Sean had him a secret little invisible tree house up their cause he could always climb higher than I could. I was a little afraid of heights but he could hang from them tree limbs like a little monkey. We had a lot of fun no matter what kind of mischief we got into. When dad was well enough to come home, I was ready to go home as well because I was the one sick by then. I was missing my dad and wanted to see him. After dad started feeling better we were back to our monkey business.

I even had brotherly feelings for Sean. Ever since I can remember he seem to have trouble with Asthma and when he would get a little sick from it, then I would start to feel bad. I won't never forget the accident he had on my go cart... In 1982- I got a sweet racing go cart with a 5 hp motor for Christmas. Sean and I were riding in the bed of dads truck going who knows where... when we started planning out a go cart ride once we got back. Well, that dang thing had been acting up a little lately but like I said we had it all planned out... what to do if this happens or that and so on. Sean was to go first so I yanked the rope and that stupid go cart took off like he had it floored. There was no way that could have even happened cause when it took off so suddenly- it threw his legs up ... well there he goes ... wide open. The one thing we forgot to plan.... was how to get that retarded go cart to stop... we got our answer around the first turn. WHAAAP... I started running to see what happened and there I found my friend had hit a big pine tree. He also had a huge knot on his forehead from where he hit the steering wheel. I felt so horrible.... but he was OK.. After that crazy accident dad was going to try to fix it. So we started it and off it went again... only this time it was ghost riding. We watched that thing go all over the place like a mad man behind the wheel.... for a minute I thought dad was going to shoot it with the shotgun. He was worried it was going to go run into something expensive and make a mess but it finally turned over. Well he fixed it alright...needless to say that was all she wrote with riding the go cart. Our next adventure was on two wheels ..... so be sure to read on below.
