How this quarter went down

Let me tell you... I am so glad but so sad this quarter is over. The love/hate feeling I had for this quarter are true to form. First things first, Flash was awesome. Period. I loved every minute of it and wished it didn't have to end. I loved it so much that I thought about taking the next level class next quarter with my other two classes but another instructor recommended that I not do that. I take 2 classes a quarter but they are studio classes. There is a big difference between studio classes and General Ed but I was still tempted to do it. I would love to show you some work and I know there is a way to post swf files but it is something funky you have to do. I don't think blogger is set up just yet for flash files so I'll have to come up with another way to let you see some flash animations. However, I do have my last project for you. We had to build a 6 page site in flash for our last project and then upload it to the school server. Check it out for yourself... just click on this link: http://bkb391.aisites.com/ and it should take you there.

My other class was almost as stressful as my second quarter all by itself. Basically we had one project we worked on the entire quarter and pretty much everybody was stressed out. Oh my gosh I would have to make freaking list of all the things we had to do in that class. I'll give you the really short version because I really don't even want to think about it anymore now that it's over. I had to join up with 2 other students and you would now that they did most of their work on the day before or the day of class. Since we had to do our own part as a team, that put me in a pinch every week. Not saying my team was sorry. Not so at all. In fact we rocked our final presentation but those guys had portfolio classes and that work was much more important than this work. What we had to do was come up with a site... that does not exist and make sitemaps/wireframes/ thumbnails etc... and then go out each week and get people to test what we designed. Most of the time the stuff was easy as creme pie but it was seeing if everybody else thought it was easy was the real task. Once we had all of that stuff designed and tested we then had to make a working prototype that was clickable. So for our final presentation... we had to make a power point of all the work and testing that we did for the entire quarter to show and explain our process and then have the clickable site ready to show. To top it off, we had to do our final presentation at the Bank of America in Ballantyne. Nice environment but the thought of big corporate big wigs watching was a little nerving. And only because this was something that none of us enjoyed. It's easier to talk about something you like and understand. So anyways, my other team member didn't mind doing the talking. So I had to work the computer. Good combination to. Chester (who is my other team member) seems to have a gift of talking about stuff like that so he did a great job talking everyone through. So there you go. That's it in a nut shell. Like I said, I'm just glad it's over.

After our presentation, a few of us headed to Chili's for a bite to eat and de-stress from another quarter. One of the greatest feelings about having such a heavy load is the feeling of just presenting your final project; whatever that is, and knowing you are all done and don't have to worry with it anymore. That is one the greatest feelings I've felt as a student at AICH. It's like you work your butt off and burn the midnight oil for so long that you get to the point to where your like a walking zombie and then after you present you work, you just want to crash. It's like the weight of the world is off your shoulders.

From here on out it's gonna be tough. My classes are stepping up to the next level and if you don't step up with it, you'll be left behind. They don't hit the brakes for nobody.

Next up: Intermediate Scripting and Digital Animation.
