Outside the front door and back door

I found this colorful little fella hanging out on the side of our house by the back door. I didn't want to pick it up cause it may have shark like teeth waiting to bite into my finger so I got my shoe to give it a lift.

Just out side the front door I found these ugly little creepy crawlers hanging out. They looked as if they were having a feast on the other bugs... buffet style I'd say!

A brand new knee

I don't exactly remember when the doctor told mom that she needed knee replacement surgery but I do remember the look on her face when she told me about it. Despite all the good things people told her, it was a look of sadness along with a little bit of grief. The blues is about the best way to explain it. Let me put it to you this way, happiness was the last thing on her mind.

As time passed, her knee continued to become worse and she knew deep down inside that having the replacement surgery was the best option. So being the champion that she is, she had the surgery and came through like a warrior.

After the surgery she would remain in the hospital for a few days and then spend a couple of weeks in a rehab center. Rehab was highly recommended since she has 2 dogs that love to jump up in her lap at any given moment. It hasn't been a bed of roses and no one said it would. She had to do things that were not easy and some things that were just uncomfortable. I wish you could have seen her though. When physical therapy came in her room to work with her, she was told that she needed to walk to the door and back. To our surprise, she about walked completely around the hallway.

Next was rehab. When she arrived at the St Joseph Rehab center, mom was placed in a room that had be shared with another patient. Oh boy... mom didn't like that. With her daughter Kathy by her side she talked her into accepting the fact that she was going to have to share the room and to look at this situation with a positive attitude. And in just one day, mom and her roommate were nearly best friends.

Three days later mom is now able to get up and walk anywhere she needs to go... with a walker of course. All that's left to do now is endure the next several days until being released. Getting back to normal may take a little time. But time is one of the greatest healers.

Now she is back home and doing great! Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

 

Is it me...

Is it just me or do you hesitate when you go to fire up your gas grill? What I mean by hesitate is once you're about hit the fire button you almost stand back as if the grill might explode in your face? I do it every time. Something about gas or anything flammable especially when it's under pressure and fire just doesn't mix for me.

While mom was in the hospital, I stayed at her house and watched the dogs for her. One morning as I started out the door I thought I'd cut through a part of Rockingham that I haven't seen in many years.

 

 

 

I also thought I'd take a trip out to the Vulcan quarry where I use to work. I think they are about to hit China. Check it out!

 

Sitting on the couch

Sitting on the couch has gotten a lot more technical here at the Bunns house! I say that because both Shell Bell and I are sitting here at the house, on the couch, TV going in the background and we're on our laptops clicking and typing away. I wish I had a camera for this but at the moment I don't. The same goes for sitting out on the porch. Neither one of us can sit empty handed anymore... er at least I can't.

Funny how times change huh!!!

What just happened?

I’m glad you asked. My tenure at The Art Institute of Charlotte is over. You heard right. I’m finished… that’s it and my name is Brian Done. That was my web instructors favorite line this past quarter.

Seriously, I am all finished with school and now it’s time to go job hunting. I am super pumped with the way everything went down. I had a great time while I was at AICH and I met some outstanding people. Check this out, I was told by some students that my southern slang was the one thing that will be missed the most.

...It was good both ways for me because I got a good laugh from their face...

Oh and trust me... I wished you couldv'e been there when I started talking slang. All I got were blank faces with a strange look. It was good both ways for me because I got a good laugh from there face expressions or either them laughing at me. It was a win-win situation.

So what's next? Other than finding a job I hope to get caught up on a few things I've had to put off. There are so many programs that I enjoy and there are so many things you can do with just one of those programs. So if I ever say I'm bored it's totally not because I don't have anything to do.

As soon as that job comes around, you can bet your butt cheeks that I'll be posting it here.

Our freedom

Well it's almost the middle of October and I am just getting to this but better late than never... I always heard. I was watching a movie the other day and one of the shots had the twin towers in the background. In that very moment it reminded me of that tragic day.

Every year, I like to watch the shows that come on TV about the 911 attacks. My heart has always went out to all the people and their families that had to experience that tragic nightmare. For me it's a reminder of what we are fighting for... our freedom. I know that we've had many casualties due to this war but our freedom has always come at a high price. I don't know if this war will ever end but freedom is the one thing that I hope will never end.

So take a minute and think of all the things we can do when ever we feel the urge and then think how it would be if there were guards standing close by that said you were not allowed to do whatever it was you were going to do. Shopping, going out to eat with friends, traveling. Go ahead take your best shot... name something you truly love to do and then think about it being restricted from you.

Now tell me how much you enjoy our freedom! Our military are the real heroes of the world!

A new look for a new start

I am getting my resume all fixed up and ready to go on my letterhead. Hopefully a job will come knocking after I make my rounds. While I'm making those rounds I am going to write down a few ideas for stories and see if I can get them to work.

Also, I thought I'd make a few changes to the layout of the bunny show! I hope you enjoy the new look!

A new start

Hey you ... Yeah you... been missing the bunny show? I know I have. Well, it's about time to get back to the nitty gritty. I just need a week or two to get my bearings all figured out and then hopefully I'll be back to writing my goofy stories.

I've said it a hundred times and I'll make this a hundred and one but I literally started an e-mail draft of ideas so that I wouldn't be scratching my head when the time comes to crank back up.

As you all may or may not know, I had to stop what I was doing and focus on school 110%. It was a bit rough there for a while but I got though everything good.

So... since I had to drop everything I was doing, I'm just gonna post my stories as I get to them on my list. A fresh new start you could say.

And with that being said... on with the show!

Updates

Well, a couple of things have happened lately...

1. I only have a week left and I'll be finished with school.
2. I am an inductee to the Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society.

Oh I left one out.

3. I SURVIVED!

It wasn't easy but I did it.

All I can say is after this week is over, you better hold on to your butt cheeks because...

1. I've been missing the good ole bunny show stories.
2. I have a list a mile long of things I need to want to share with you.
3.I never got a chance to break into several stories before I had to stop.

So get ready, the bunny show is about to crank up!

Countdown to graduation

Two weeks from today will be the " big " day. That will be when I stand before the school and show all of my work. The date will be Sept. 18th on a Friday afternoon. The day it all comes to a head. Then the Portfolio show will be the following week at the Charlotte Convention Center in Uptown. The show will be from 5 to7:30 pm with awards for Best Portfolio starting at 7 pm.

Where do I start!!

Hello everyone,

Just like the title says... where do I start! I am so far behind with everything that I have planned for this blog that I'm thinking that I just need to start over again! Ah... I'm just kidding. I've been keeping up with all of my stories that I will sooner or later write by sending myself e-mails. It works great too! I check my e-mails numerous times a day so it's been a really good way to keep up.

Just to get you all caught back up with what's going on I just recently had a very nice 3 week break from school. Shelly and I went to the beach as always for a week but the other couple of weeks were suppose to be catch-up. Well... that didn't happen because when I say I needed a break, I really needed a break. I managed to do a few things but I just want to not have any commitments to anything but just to enjoy my time off. And I did!

So I am now back in school for my last quarter. I really cannot believe that I am here already. If there is ever a time to shine it's now! I'm sure that once this quarter is all said and done, I'll have a huge story to share with how everything went down.

So that's it for now I guess. I'm going to take my sleepy head to bed and go at it again tomorrow.

Time to crunch

I am about 2 weeks away from summer break and let me just say... I'm long overdue for a good break. Shelly and I are already planning on a good nice long week at the beach-just like we do every summer. Though I do think this year will be much more valuable to me than the past trips. Not that any of the past trips were empty by any means but with all of the hardcore studying, time spent on a computer and anything and everything else that has been crammed into my brain here lately will make this years trip be total relaxation. But I have to be smart... I cannot go through the summer break and not do any work. In fact, I'm already booked for the summer.

The funny part is I actually love this kind of stuff. If I could change one thing it would be not to have these kind of teachings in a school type environment. I guess what I'm saying is that I am in love with learning. I want to learn everything I can... about everything I can- no matter what it is but minus the grading part and being held accountable to do something or you fail the class. That kind of stuff I don't think I will ever miss.

So for now my status is I'm still working as hard as I can on cleaning up all of my projects, school work, outside work etc. After the summer break I will probably go into sort of a hibernation until I graduate. Just until I can get through this last and final quarter of school.

On another note- the bunny show will definitely have to be on hold until I graduate. So like I said a while back- every other week or so I will peek back in and give my status for the time being. From the looks of it, I wouldn't be shocked if " going crazy " was the only thing I write for some weeks.

Almost there

This quarter is starting to wind down slowly but surely. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel but it's pretty dog-gone dim at the moment. This quarter has been pretty tough too let me tell ya. I had to take an extra class so I will be caught up for next quarter which will be my final quarter and just that has added more weight on my shoulders.

Since my focus is all about the web, I've been studying some really strange stuff. What I mean by strange is unique but powerful in the same way. It's pretty amazing to see what web sites are doing these days especially since I know what happens on each click.

Well, once again I'll make this short. It's Memorial Day weekend and I hope it's a good one for those of you that able to get out and enjoy it. Me... oh no, I'm stuck here at the house doing homework. Looks like it will be next year before I get to enjoy things like this, unless I get a job that requires me to work during these times. Who knows- we'll see in due time.

For the week

Not much going on this week other than just the same ole stuff. I'm still working on as much as I can to have everything ready for my next and final quarter.

My biggest time consumer here lately has been my motocross website. I've been putting a little more effort into that site than any other work simply because it will be a win-win situation in every kind of way.

First and foremost, I'll finally have a motocross site to host everything I do involving motocross and then on top of that I can put it in my portfolio. I am on the verge of having it all finished but I still need to do some tweaking here and there. Once I get it all working and live I'll post the link here.

I'm very excited about this site because every time I go to a track to shoot photos or either video, I get bombed with the question of " hey do you have site so I can see the pics". And then I have to say " no ".

There is actually a long story behind this site so I'll fill you in once it's all finished. Well that's about it for now. I need to get back to my " to do " list so I can get geared up for tomorrow. Monday's are super long for me as I spend the entire day at school. Literally!

What's new

Have any of you guys heard about twitter? Well it's nothing to get in an uproar about if you ask me but then again I am registered there. I guess what I'm saying is since I am in work overload and trying to focus all of my attention towards school, I am going to use the bunny show like a really nice twitter.

So... at the moment I am in Design Layout, Design for Dynamic Web Design and Portfolio Prep.

I am on the down slope for graduation and right now I am gathering up all of my work that I have done in school and outside of school. After I have all of my work my instructor will help guide me on what I should add to my portfolio site and what I should leave alone.

This will also be a time when I go back and begin to make changes or try to perfect anything that needs to be corrected so that when it's time to start building my portfolio site, I will have everything ready to go.

As the quarter goes along I will post what will be going into my site. As for now I am currently working on a motocross website for myself. This will work both ways for me. I'll have a site that is totally all about motocross and I can also put this in my portfolio.

Once again I'll check back in once a week and give a brief update of what I am doing.

Checking in

Well hello- hello!

Just thought I'd check back in since I haven't been here in so long. Wow... I'm almost at a loss of words. I have so much stuff to share that I am having to make notes so that I will know what to write about. Seriously! I have an e-mail set aside that I refer to so I won't loose track of everything.

I have learned so much since I've been here and I am so thankful for the support I have. I am almost dancing in my pants because Also the fact that I am making life long connections while I'm here is just mind boggling.

Okay, lets just do this. It's quite obviously that I'm swamped with school work since I've mentioned it almost every time I post something but for the sake of submitting some type of update, I'll just check in from time to time and post a very brief statement of what's going on with school.

I know one thing, I miss writing my stories for this blog. I am excited about taking the bunny show to another level and getting back in the routine of writing again. Once I am straightened out and graduated from school you can expect a ton of updates. In fact, here are just a few updates you can expect:

Text layout? Yes you read that correctly. Since I am embedded in a wealth of knowledge here at school I have learned how to make reading more fun than just looking a block of text. As for the rest of the updates well... just keep checking back!

Back to school

It is currently 7:40am, Monday April 6th. I really don't know why I just wrote that but what the heck. I am feeling a bit groggy from having to get up for a morning class so there is know telling what I may write.

So with that being said I am about to kick of my next to last quarter. This quarter I have Design Layout, Design for Dynamic Web and Portfolio Prep. The way my class schedule and work schedule look, I'll be spending the majority of the week at school.

Well, I guess I'll sign off. I need to go take a leak before the mayhem begins.

Rest for a week

Yes that's right, this quarter is finally over. But not for long, we only have a week and then the mayhem will start all over again. The end is getting closer and closer!

I posted a message a while back about the bunny show going to hang low for a while and it looks as if I may have to keep that same status for a while. Ever since I started the bunny show, I had so much that I wanted to share. This blog was all I could think about but now that school has become so intense, I have had to invert almost all of my attention their. But that's not all.

Aside from school, I have started my very own social networking site. I started this networking site about a month ago and so far it's been growing really fast. I have also spent a great deal of time putting together a photo gallery where you can buy prints online and of course last but not least is my motocross blog.

So whenever things pan out and I can start putting some time back into the bunny show I am going to spice things up a bit.

After all, there is still a side of me that has yet to be written about and there is no way that I would neglect these stories. So hang in there and always stay tuned. Cause you never no what the bunny show will bring you.

New layout

Sorry to be changing the layout so much but I for some reason I am not a fan of the rounded sections that the other layout had. You know me I like to switch things up every now and then. You know, show some new colors or something. The same ole look seems like it gets staled after a while.

On another note I was speaking to one the instructors at school last week about writing and she happened to mention a few key elements about the proper way of writing. Well here at the bunny show, I think I have broke a few rules when it comes to the proper way of writing but then again she also mentioned that there is a time and a place where rules can be broken. As I began to talk about the way I write here on the bunny show and what the bunny show is about, I got a little nod indicating that I indeed, found that place where rules can be broken.

So, as a reminder, here on the bunny show is where you will find the occasional misspelled word, phrases' that probably don't make much sense and plenty of southern slang!

Big Yawn!!!

At this very moment in time it is Tuesday March 17th and 7:40 in the morning! I would also like to say that I have been up since 4:45 am. I just woke up and could not go back to sleep! The majority of the time I'd be a little angry right about now but when my eyes popped open this morning from a good nights sleep, I felt rested. Usually I would feel extremely groggy but for some reason I feel pretty good.

The reason I'm writing this is because this hardly ever happens to me. If you are old enough to remember hurricane hugo that swept through the Carolinas back in the 80's then you know what a disaster that was to many people. Of course I sleep though the whole thing. I go from hearing about it on the news to waking up to a day of sunshine, but with debris all over the place.

So with that being said, for me to wake up this early and not be able to go back to sleep is worth documenting.

And by the way... Happy St Patricks day.

Another rainy cold weekend!

What a rainy cold weekend it has been! I definitely need more of that warm weather and sunshine that we had a couple of weekends ago! Well that's about all I have for now but before I go I must say forgive me if I seem to be repeating myself a lot here lately. I've been so crazy busy with school and everything that is going on there that I don't know if I'm scratching my watch or winding my butt. You know I just had to throw in a little country slang there but you get the hint.

I have some free time when I am working at the camera rental cage so maybe then I can write back with what's been going on here lately.

Hello (echo, echo)

Well hello again... my goodness it seems like it has been forever since I've a had a spare moment for a story. To be honest with you I just shuffled some of those spare moments around just to check back in for once in a while. Well lets see... where do I begin! Well dadgum... as I sit here and scratch my head (literally) I am really trying to figure out what to talk about. Has it been that long already, I surely have a ton of stuff to talk about. I guess what I mean is that I don't want to leave anything out.

Well, I guess I can always start with school. As you all may or may not know, I started working at the cage which is where we handle prints and camera rentals. That has been going really good and I am tickled pink with that job. By the way "tickled pink" is southern slang for I'm thrilled or I'm excited. Just had to throw that in there.

Okay here is something worth talking about. THE WEATHER!!! How about it! So we get some snow a couple of weekends ago and then the next weekend it's nearly 80 degrees! Hey... I'm not complaining a bit, I'm tickled pink with this weather. I've never been a fan of cold weather so I'm just as happy as I can be when it's 60-70 degrees out.

Ah hah!!! I knew something would come to my mind sooner or later. Remember that job I had with Cycle Gear. Yes I said had... well I'm happy to say that Cycle Gear no longer has a hold on me. Meaning that the job I got switched to was a serious drag and was weighing me down like a old beat up el camino with a ton of bricks in the back. I'm serious... about 6 months ago we got a new manager in the store and to my dismay, he was donkey. Hopefully you can read between the lines when I say donkey!

So with my job at the cage and my job at Cycle Gear and my classes... by the weekend I was pooped... or should say just brain dead. To make a long story short I got moved into a salesman position. Which was something I did not like at all. I struggled with it for a while but like I do everything else, I put my head down and gave it 110%... even though I dreaded going to work to talk with people (customers) who thought they knew everything about motorcycles. You would probably think that I would like that kind of job since it dealt with motorcycles but with the kind of crowd that came in and the way the new manager was to us, the employees' it become a yucky time for me.

I will spare you all the things that took place since that will make me look like I'm whinning but I will say this. Once the new manager took over, he hired around five new people and they all quit within the first week... just because they were not capable of putting up with his ways.

I look at it this way, I took a job I pretty much hated and turned it around to where I was meeting almost double of what my sales goal was expected out of me. So enough talk about that place. I've wiped my hands and dusted my feet from that dreadful place and ever since I told them that I was finished with their "childs play" job, the windows of opportunity have opened up for me everywhere else.

Well my time is all used up. I will try to check back in the morning when I'm at the cage. After classes start, everything tends to settle down a good bit so I will have time to jump back into my lost and found of bunny show stories.

I'm married to a great woman name Shelly. I just graduated from college. I love motocross, photography, video production, web design and motion graphics.

I worked in the mining industry for 15 years but then all of a sudden... in one single day...  I realized I could do more with my life than the life what I was currently living. There are things that I know I can do... heights that I know I can reach. All I need is a window of opportunity.

So this blog is more than a story of my life but a testimonial to those heights that I am curreuntly working towards.
