Do you have what it takes

Have you ever been watching TV or reading a magazine and wondered how some people are successful at everything they do. I have been doing some thinking about this and here is what I feel the proper dosage to success or satisfactory results in whatever you are trying to accomplish. Sacrifice, Discipline and Commitment. Just go by these three words and then believe in your heart you can do it and then voil'a... success is own the way. Hold on a minute now, lets chop the weeds before we head to the bushes... cause some people think success is becoming a millionaire. Although there is nothing wrong with that, I just want you to think smaller for right now. There is success in everything- small to large. Take losing weight for example, unless you are genetically enhanced to where all you have to do is eat cheeseburgers w/ fries and a fudge brownie afterwards, then I would say screw you .... nah..... just kidding. I would say how lucky you are but that is still not a healthy way to eat... Think about it, for the rest of us we have to sacrifice the things we love to eat when ever we want it- discipline ourselves to exercise and healthy eating habits and stay committed to it. There is so much you have to look at when dieting that I'm not even going to get into it. What I don't get is when I hear people moan and groan about how they gained all their weight back... You hear em say, I got down where I wanted so I went back to my other eating habits... WELL THERES THE PROBLEM ... you ding dong. I'm not saying stay hardcore if that is what you done- like eating lettuce and tomatoes for breakfast lunch and dinner... I'm saying there needs to be a balance. That is something you will have to work out for yourself- just keep exercising. If you can't handle those 3 things then just believe. If you believe in yourself and in your heart that you can do or overcome what lies ahead then all the others should fall into place. Be realistic though, you can't say- I believe in my heart I can climb up the side of this 50 story building, leap to the other side then take to the sky like an eagle.....my only advice for that is leave them pursuits to spider man and superman.... trust me on that one. You might could climb a building if you had the right suction cups , then run to the other side and say you leaped, but once you try to take to the sky like an eagle...let me just say- that last step is a doosey!!!!

Day with the Bunns part 2

When I was growing up, us Bunns would get together once in a while to eat, act crazy, talk, laugh, play.... well you get the idea. We got together for everything. Back then, there were so many Bunns running around the house we had to borrow tables from the church so everyone could sit together. You know how it is, if you were dating someone, more than likely they would come cause when we got together- we made sure we done it right and what better time to meet the Bunn family....Sadly, I got tired of going to these functions when I turned 16- unless they were at my house and then all I would do Is drop by. Soon after I graduated, (1993 ) dad passed away and the get togethers seemed to come to a screeching halt. I kinda blame myself.... Instead of stepping up to the plate where dad left off- I went about my own way and winded up in messy situations that cost me several years worth. It had been over 10 years since we set aside a day to get together to eat and cut up like a bunch of Bunns were suppose to.....but on April 28th 2007- the Bunns came together once again. Although it wasn't like the old days of getting together, it was close enough. Since then, some have moved away and others just couldn't make it out this time... but that's OK though, I know for a 100% fact this will happen again... soon! I didn't realize how much I enjoyed these kind of things until I learned the purpose of them. In retrospect to those good ole days, I believe that this is what dad would want for us- and that is to continue. So dad since this was our first time back to the way us Bunns did things- I am going to dedicate this one to you. I promise I will make a better effort to keep us Bunns getting together to reminisce about those good ole days.

From me to you

I've been writing in this blog for about 3 months now and I am always asking everyone I send it out to- what they think of it. The feedback I have gotten is very positive and it gives me even more motivation to continue. Of course I would anyway if you didn't care for it because I can not begin to tell you how much I enjoy writing in this blog. I have been wanting to do something like this for a while and blogging fits the bill perfectly. What I am really trying to say is thank you. The whole purpose of these blogs is to make them interesting, funny and have you anxiously waiting for the next one. I'm always telling my wife how I wish I could go back in time to relive certain events or just to see how things have changed over time. Writing these blogs has been the next best thing unless I run into someone that has invented a time traveler. So once again Thank you. It makes me feel very good that you have enjoyed reading my stories as much as I have enjoyed writing them. I feel like I have 30 years worth to tell you about- and If God is willing I will tell you all about my life .... what it was, is and is to come. yours truly- Brian

The New Guy

When Shelly and I bought this house a few months ago, I made a list with all the things I wanted or should I say hoped to have with the house. One of those things was there had to be squirrels running around. Of course we spotted one the day we looked at the house so already one of my items on the list was already in action. Well, since I love to watch them with their Bruce Lee reflexes, I decided to set up a few corn feeders and this little fella here has enjoyed meal after meal. The only thing is the little rascal is eating the corn while I'm at work. When I get back home-he's done tore it up and probably sitting back at his nest with his feet kicked back with a toothpick... I finally caught him sniffing around Sunday morning and got a few shots of my new friend. I think I am gonna call him Ralph. That name seems to suit him well. Who knows, if I keep this up -maybe I can hand him a corn cob one day... he sure didn't take off running when I walked out the door this time. So if you ever see me with a bandage on my finger or either one is shorter than the others, you will know he went a little further than the cob. I'm thinking if he can bite through a nut shell- then my finger would be like pound cake.

Spring time

Spring time has finally arrived and with all the pretty colors starting to bloom, I thought I would share a couple of pics showing off there beauty.

My weekend

Holy Cow... What a great weekend. I hope I have more weekends like this one. To start off with, I ordered me a new cell phone. I know that sounds lame to you but I washed my first phone in the washer, then I switched to Verizon and got me a nice phone only to drop it in the rain and run over it on my way to work. I didn't have insurance so I bought a cheap one on eBay with no bells or whistles. Hey wait..... lets get back to my weekend... enough with the phone already. Anyhoo, I went to the track Saturday (as always ) and put in some strong motos. Even Mike (he raced pro in the late 80's)pulled me to the side to tell me how well he thought I was riding. I was just in a zone or something... I was feeling really good. What made it even better was my honey-bunny- love- muffin showed up and got some pics of me. I never get any shots because I'm the one taking pics of everybody else. Then this guy showed up with camera that made mine look like a limp noodle...He was using lens about a foot long and big as a softball on the end. So I started picking his brain a little and was totally cool about trying to teach me something about photography. After riding a little more for my friend who had the camera with a shotgun barrel lens, I headed home. Then Shell bell and myself went to a wonderful Italian restaurant where I tore into a steak and salad which is my all time favorite Saturday night dinner. To top the night off I went to amos's in uptown Charlotte to see Firehouse -an 80's rock band- jam the night away. Got up Sunday and (Silver Streak)one of my all time favorite movies was on with the supercross race on after that. The rest of the afternoon was just Shelly and I taking Jack to the park and other things that made this weekend a heck-of-a-weekend.

This photo cracks me up every time I look at it. I had just purchased my camera and wanted to stop by the track to show it off a little. I didn't know a thing about how to get a good shot so I had it set on the cheater settings. Well just before I was getting ready to leave, we all started getting harassed by this confounded wasp or whatever the heck kinda bee this is. All I know is that this joker looks like he was wanting to take a head off with them daggers poking out. After making his rounds to everyone he finally landed on Todd's hat. I hope this is a sign of what is to come because this was my first shot with my camera and after I got the picture, the ole fella flew off into the sunset. When I looked at it later I was tickled by how it turned out- not only is the background out of focus with Todd in focus, or the bee with killer fangs ready to draw blood noticeable..... it was the lint on his shirt that got me. Not to bad for the first shot eh...

Who's Johnny

I'm gonna crack on my wife a little because it's just to good to pass up. With Shelly being from up north (Ohio) and me a good ole southern boy- there were times when she would look at me with a strange look on her face. Since us southerners say things like jeet yet ( did you eat yet) or ownt- no ( I don't know ) or this one I like... mita-bena ( might have been a ) it took a while for her understand. When I was a little bunn boy, I would hear Mom say things like -Ill be John Brown, or John Brown-it, Immol beat chol tail boy... which means, I am going to beat your tail boy. So when Shelly would aggravate me -I would say something like - well I'll be John Brown, or something to that effect. After a few months of dating you know what that dad gum girl of mine asked me.... With a serious look on her face she said ... who in the world is John Brown... you talk about him all the time...

Breakfast of champions

Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day( or at least it is to me), here is my all time favorite morning grub. Its good any day of the week but on Saturday morning is when it doesn't get any better. All you need is some grits, eggs and sausage or bacon-I prefer sausage though. I made this twice myself but it doesn't even come close to the taste when Mom whips it up. You make your grits, fry or grill your sausage (or bacon) and make you an egg sunny side up..... put that bad boy in your grits and take a fork and chop the egg up and let that sunny side up turn your grits school bus yellow. Your grits is now called grips- because it will grip your ribs and won't let go for a while. Now don't sit there with your nose all wrinkled up like you got a whiff of billy bobs gas, just try it- that's good eatin there now!!!!! The reason it taste better on Saturday morning has to do with when I was growing up, that was every Saturday mornings breakfast. I would watch the bugs bunny and road runner show while I ate. Oh man, those were the good ole days- If there was anything I wanted to watch was the bugs bunny( hence my blog name) show. I miss watching that wask-a-we wabbit on Saturday mornings. In fact, I missed it so bad , I ordered some DVDs so I can watch my cartoons when I want to.

Whats for dinner

Saturdays had to be the bunns day of royalty, cause we seem to eat like kings or so we thought. Every Saturday night we would grill up some T-bone steaks, salad and a baked potato. Dad made them steaks so good you would almost chap you lips from licking them so much. Oh and the show of the evening while we were chomping away- Hee Haw.... I will always remember that... " Where Oh where are you tonight.... why must I leave you here all alone... I've searched the world over and thought I found true love.. you met another and $#!*&^ you were gone... Yee Haw.

The price of being nice

I've been going to Andrews motocross track for a few years know and all through out the season, you see a lot of different faces. Some old, some new and some you hope don't ever come back. Lets face it- some people are just not cut out for this kind of action. Not so for these guys- in fact they fit in just right. Meet Andrew and Steven. These two started coming out about 2 years ago and boy let me tell ya.. I could barely watch them as they go by. Steven ( orange bike ) had a clapped out CR125 that sounded like a pissed off weed eater while Andrew ( white Bike )had a decent ride but was sporadically nuts!!! Young, still living at home, no responsibilities and ready to jump the dad gum canyon if he thought he could do it. I don't remember how we started talking but when we all were at the track we started hanging out a little. As goofy as these guys were I knew they would eventually come around. Listen now, don't take that out of context cause we're all goofy in our own way. My motto in life is to do unto other as you would have them do to you. I can not begin to tell you how that has paid off for me. I'm not talking money, but kindness and generosity is what I'm talking about. I said all that to say this... I have took a liken to these guys and as they have grown in age, so has there skill for motocross. I mean Steven has bike that doesn't sound like a mid evil chick having a bad hair day and Andrew is making it over the jumps know instead of coming up a short and limping away as he wipes the blood from his nose!!!! As I close this one out, Andrew and I were talking a couple weeks ago and I made mention of some parts I wanted. Aw dude I got all that stuff and Ill give it to ya he replied....... as I'm picking my jaws up from the ground!! He meant every word to. I followed him home yesterday and we traded parts. I offered him money but a simple, "get some good shots of me and we'll call it even" is what he chose!!What can I say but It pays to be nice to people-you never know what they will offer to you later on in life. For your F.Y.I those parts equaled close to $500 bucks. Am I bragging, well I guess so, on Andrews behalf though. Maybe someday I can help him out with something because I would say he deserves it.

Happy Easter everyone. I would like to take this opportunity to make a few things clear. Not that you don't know this already but just in case.... This weekend is a very special weekend. It is not about nor has nothing to do with Easter bunny's or hunting Easter eggs. However, if you feel like you have to dress up like a rabbit and hop along with Happy Easter wrote on your chest while you hunt some eggs, then go right ahead-that's your prerogative. This weekend means one thing! Christ was crucified, placed in a tomb and 3 days later was resurrected. That's pretty much it!

Weekend 3-31-07

Another fine weekend here at the Bunns cabin of delight!!! The wife had a yard sell Saturday that went well and I put in some good solid motos at the track and got some practice on my camera as well. This camera is just awesome, although it can be aggravating at times cause it is so sensitive but when it's right, you get an outstanding picture.
This is my dentist here in the spotlight this time. What can I say... I go to the dentist and while I'm waiting he has motocross and photography magazines to read. After he's all done we do a little bench racing!!! I look forward to my appointments to the dentist not only cause we shoot the breeze but I get a break from work. All I need now is a family doctor that enjoys this kind of stuff!
