A smile goes a mile

I was on my way home from work the other day and decided to stop at BJs warehouse and pick up a few things. As I was walking out from paying for my items I noticed a lady standing off to the side with papers in her hand. I knew exactly what was about to happen but what she didn't know was I was completely burnt out from people trying to sell there company- you know, the people who say " if you had this in your home it will save you money in the long run " or " we will just give an estimate, no pressure to buy". Yea right, and I have a full head of hair too... Anyhoo, Instead of cruising by nodding my head I decided to smile like I knew the lady and stop. I knew in my mind I could have cared less for what she was selling but I figured.... ah what the heck, I can always say no and walk off but I listened to every word she said and even asked questions. After a brief talk about the product she relaxed like she was standing at attention and let out a big sigh- she then said to me, I am so glad you stoped by you've been so nice to me. Shoot, I almost hugged the lady after telling me that. My point is this, even when you feel like you have nothing left to give or feel like a being a grouch, you can still smile. Even if you are not interested in the situation at hand, say no thanks but smile when you say it. When someone smiles at you and you've had a rough day it's almost like a silent hug or a hand shake. I call it consideration myself. Now I don't mean go around grinning like Elmer Fud after he's been kissed- showing all your chompers..... just a little smile is sufficient.

Dogs

This is our good ole boy Jack A.K.A Jackaroni and this is dedicated to all who loves, cares, wants, has or had a dog. Dogs are just irresistible... period. They come in all different shapes, sizes and colors. They even get on your last nerve.. but for some reason, you still can't resist giving them the good doggie rubs and then moments later you are making funny noises at them ( like they understand you ). When I was growing up we always had a dog around , the neighbors had a dog and really almost everybody I knew had a dog now that I think about it. What is it about them that is so fun to have around to play with. I always tell my wife" I wish we could talk to animals". I also love cats as well but I have a deeper love for dogs. It's very easy to get emotionally attached to our little buddy's and when they get sick or start acting weird, we simply want to care for them like they're human. Well they aren't human but they are a part of the family. In closing Shelly and I would like to express our compassion to a special friend that has been going through some tough times with her little buddy. The doctors have done about all they can do and it seems to be only a matter of time. I found this poem about dogs and I think it sums it up best. I attached the poem below for us doggie lovers. Dang Drivers....

Is it me or does everybody get aggravated when you get behind bad drivers. I get so irritable with these people who go under the speed limit or pull out in front of you only to turn the next exit or intersection. Have you ever watched the cartoon inspector gadget..... well I want me a go go gadget bunn Mobile...this bad boy will open up in the front and a bucket will come out and I will scoop up all the bad drivers and just put them behind me... ya see .. I'm not a horrible person.... I just don't like these dad gum drivers that don't pay attention to what they are doing. I leave way ahead of time to get to work and it's a good thing I do. Check this out, the speed limit on the interstates are normally 65 or more and any other Hwy is 55. Well why is it I always get behind the ones that want to go 40 and 45 down the interstate... with a mile of traffic flying by thinking I'm the hold up. To make matters worse I'm usually turning a mile or two down so there's no sense in hitting mock 10 down the interstate just to swerve back over to make your turn while hauling tail up the ramp like a cat being chased by cujo.... I can't figure these numb nuts out so I guess I will have to just look ahead and try to avoid these hold ups.... but if I get hung up any more behind Daisy Duke putting make up on or big bad Clyde yapping to all in the car about how he used to milk the cows, cut the grass and cook dinner all while he was on crutches ... then I'm gonna rip the muffler off my truck, throw paint primer on the hood and tail gate and keep a good supply of wife beater shirts in the glove box and see if that helps cause that's what I see while they're passing me, unless I'm covering my ears from the loud back fires or a Rambo looking dude is looking at me thinking .... these dang drivers!!!!!

YouTube video

Every time I watch this, it brings tears to my eyes. I would say because I have the up most respect and compassion for the disabled and the elderly. Well where in the world did ya learn all that bunn boy... I'm glad you ask...There was a man by the name of Pearl Bunn.... he taught me everything I know.
This is a story about a Dad who loves his son unconditionally and is willing to do whatever it takes to see just a moment of joy for his son. The boy was strangled by his umbilical cord during birth, leaving him brain - damaged and unable to control his limbs. The doctors told the parents he would be nothing but a vegetable and to put him in an institute. After refusing to do so, they were adamant to find a solution for his disability's and a resolution to succeed in life. One day Rick (the little boy) showed interest in a charity run for a classmate. During that event Rick told his Dad that he felt as if he wasn't disabled anymore while they were out running. Now they compete in marathons and triathlons. Think you have what it takes to run a marathon... This guy did while pushing his son in a wheel chair. Rick also has a high school diploma and a college degree. This is what love is all about. If you don't have a few minutes to watch this all the way through then wait until you do or just make time. This is very inspirational. The video is below.

Weekend at the Bunns

WOWZERS!!! What a weekend.....This has been one of those fun-but-sad-but-active-but-relaxing-but-endeavoring weekends I've had in well, my life. Ever had one of those... It started off good though, I was able to get to some good riding this Saturday at Andrews. If there is any track I want to be at, it's Andrews all the way. If you like a track that gets ruts, braking bumps, acceleration bumps and riders jumping over your head, then there is no other track like this one. Mike busts his butt every weekend to make a good technical track for us to ride on. As far as getting jumped over, well it happens once in a while, this is motocross you know. That was the fun part. The sad part is I think this might be my last weekend I get to ride at Mike's for a while. I over heard the boss say the other day Saturday work is here, we start next weekend. Even though I am quiting in a few months to go to school there are still a few things I want to knock out of the way before I quit. Like some of these home make overs. Trust me, think of something you enjoy doing and imagine working long hours somewhere you are miserable that hinders whatever it is you like to do. The rest of this weekend was non stop. Shelly painted my office, I washed the truck, inside and out and washed my bike.... Today we had more painting to do except we hired painters so I worked in my shop and both Shelly and I raked the yard from the attack of the gum balls. I have never seen so many gum balls in well, my life.... If there was any kind of rodent, pest, animal .... or something I could have to get rid of these gum balls, I would have a friggin barnyard out here..... and no I'm not cutting them down. As far as relaxing....well that would be right know as I type.

Check this place out!!! We LOVE Japanese now. We drove by this place several times before giving it a shot. Well, what would you think if you seen this .... This dad gum place has hotdogs and hamburgers, french fries , subs etc. If you don't want that you can get Japanese. I thought for sure this place was skinning there grub out back but after sweating about it a little we gave it a shot.... WOW WEE..... I don't know how they do it but they got better hamburgers than McDonald's and the best hot dog I've ever tasted. The Japanese is yummy too. To top it off, there's a cutie pie that works in there!!!! I added a little spice myself, click to enlarge the photo and try to find the sun shining on my bald head.

Not sure yet what this guy is up to. Either he is holding a spot for someone or waiting on some buddies to get something to eat!!!!!!! Life is good I guess.

Night at the Bunns

Creepy looking eh??? All I need is some frogs and crickets for sound effects....... This was our scene from our front porch tonight. Our little cabin is starting to come together. We had new carpet put in, some ceramic tile on the kitchen and bathroom, Shelly has painted the bedroom and we have installed a few light fixtures. Still a ways to go yet before we accomplish all we are trying to do but in time it will come. If it wasn't for Shelly, nothing would get done around here. My job takes most of my time. Let me just give you the rundown. I start trying to get up at 4:30 am . Notice I said trying.... After hitting the snooze a few times I get up fix my breakfast and get ready for work. Remember I am doing this with one eye still shut. Get all I need for the day and leave around 5:30. I like to allow a little time in case I run into a problem so I'm not late. Clock in at 6:30 am and work till 5 or 6 pm. I head to the gym after that and usually try to spend a hour or more. Then Shelly and I will get something to eat and that burns up another hour easy. Then when I get home I try to knock out the things I need to do here .Well by know its around 10pm and that's when I finally get on line.... Then go to bed wake up and do it all over again. Now imagine going to bed at 11:30 to midnight only to get up at 4:30am. This is sometimes 6 days a week. Things will change soon though. I will start school in November this year.

Customer service

Shelly and I decided to head out to Circuit City last night to look at some surround sound speakers for the house. The folks that lived here before us had this installed but took the speakers with them. Anyhoo we thought it would be cool if we get some speakers for ourselves, after all the wires are still in the wall. This seems to be something we constantly run into everywhere we go. I don't know why in the world the places hire these punk kids or teenagers or whatever you want to call them but they have no idea what good customer service is about. Sometimes you just need a little insight on what your looking for and would this be the right item for our project. First of all, we had to have someone go get the guy, ( he was hanging with his buds on the other side of the store) then once he assisted us he was like, make up you mind whether you want this or not... so then Shelly ....my wife...... is starting to fire up a little.... and if you don't think this chick will fire up over sorry customer service ..... then by all means.... you try it some time when feel like you can handle the wrath of ole Shell Bell. Finally we just said we will wait and look around at other speakers. After that he just walked off and back to his buddy's he went. Not even a thank you, have a nice night or is there anything else I can help you with. Now she's really mad, oh yea, if your gonna treat my wife bad you better learn how to at least have a little better manner's .... That woman trips me out. She kinda reminds me of daddy a little, I mean when I would go to get groceries with them, dad would fart out loud while your walking with him. We would look at him with eyes wide open and he would start laughing......WITH PEOPLE AROUND....... well this girl isn't scared to call you out in front of everybody either. What can I say though, I wouldn't have her any other way.

The Wife

Have I ever mentioned anything about how ...... awesome my wife is. That chick is just fabulous. Let me tell you some of the things I have to put up with being married to this majestic noble wife of mine. When I went to Florida a few weeks ago, I came home to a painted bedroom. She got the paint, sandpaper and all the goodies that you need and knocked it out in one day. She is already asking me what color would I like my office to be," just pick the color and I will paint it".... she says. Next, she lined up painters to give us an estimate on painting our ceiling. During the summer she gladly cuts the grass but I take care of the weed eating. Friday after work, I got online to read my emails ...as I always do and she said ," you see the light fixture I hung in here". This morning, as I roll out of bed which was probably around 9:30, she tells me " while you were sleeping I changed the brake light bulbs on the truck, put a few things up in the attic and organized the wiring for the TV speakers". I asked her if she had time to change the oil in my truck or maybe rebuild the engine or something.... by all means don't hold back on me.... Then today, while I was out riding she got some neat things for around the house..... a bird feeder, and my all time favorite ... a squirrel feeder and lots of other nit-picky things. To top it all of, she is willing to take on the majority of the bills so I can go to school. Of course I will get a part time job to help out the best I can........ whew.... I'm trying to think what I've left out.. What a woman. I think what I'm getting at is SHE IS A KEEPER.....

Someone Special

Before I go any further I would like to write about someone very dear to me. You see this person is responsible for who I am..... This person was so cool that everybody who came remotely close was embraced by his demeanor. He was full of love, full of life and full of himself most of the time..... He showed so much love to me that he decided to give his best effort to make my dreams come true. We had our battles as well our moments that were so unique that nothing earthly could possibly buy. He kept me from harm, and tried his very best to teach me right from wrong , the best manners and how I should respect other people like I would want them to treat me. You know, it was a win win situation cause my Mom loved him to pieces too. My gosh , the guy was just a treat to be around.... he could have the best of times given any situation. He taught me the way this life works and so many other things that I can see his face looking at me.... talking in that tone of voice. I can remember the times when I would do something wrong, he would get all red in the face and tell me how he was going to beat the living daylights out of me. Although he never did go to those extremes ( or else I wouldn't be here) he always knew what to do to correct me (belt) so I knew not to ever do that again. At the same time he could turn around and hug me like nothing never happened. Oh and trust me, he was smarter than the average bear too, I think he had censers all over the house because he knew when you were up to no good. That man was a genius if you ask me. He got sick just as I was getting into elementary school and his maladies would stay with him for the remainder of his life. Although the only remedy for what he had was rest and relaxation he was bound and determined to figure out ways to conquer his pursuits. I guess what I'm saying is he was simply amazing and always knew how to cheer you up when you needed it. In June 1994 his time clock ran out and departed from this world to a better place. His name..... Pearl F Bunn, he was my Dad. In 1987 Dad invested into my future. Not only did he buy me my first dirt bike, he took me to a local Honda shop where the top pros were signing autographs, then to the races the next day. For as longs as I am on this earth, I will never forget that weekend. I can't begin to tell you how much that meant to me. There are many other great memories I have but that one stands out the most. He was the best. Although he is not here in the flesh, he's here in my heart and everyone that ever cared for him. 1987...... what a great year. I wish you could see me now Dad, I think you would be proud of me. I love and miss you. Thank you for life Dad. Brian

Supercross 07

Each year Shelly and I like to get away for the weekend and go check out the best of the best in supercross. All the big names are here Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Chad Reed and the list goes on. These guys are usually the top 3 at any given race. The level these guys ride at is unbelievable. This year as well as the other years was a super good time for us. We have found this hotel that is conveniently located near the Marta station where we jump on the train and it takes us everywhere we need to go. If you understand anything about motocross then you will understand what I'm saying. The first time I took Shelly to a race she spotted a fast rider. This guy was always out front when they practice and then my wife says , I bet you this guy wins. Well the top guys haven't even come out yet and I was trying to explain that a rider that normally gets a top 5 finish let alone a win would make this guy look like he was going backwards. OK I'm stretching it there but you know what I mean .... Needless to say once the top pros got going she was blown away at how fast these guys are going. These guys are in great shape physically and mentally. Most people think all you have to do is throw your leg over and twist the throttle.... well maybe if you are going to buzz around in the back yard but on a motocross track, you better have your homework done. While we watched practice I had a chance to get some more practice shooting with my camera. Here are some of my pics I shot.
